INTRODUCING SEA OAK

The sea oak that finds its way from the Roaringwater Bay Mussel Farm of west Cork into Noble Isle’s Sea of Green Hand Wash and Lotion is an unassuming but intriguing plant. This leathery brown algae is one of the most common forms of seaweed in the British Isles, its branched fronds with their characteristic air bubbles are familiar to anyone who has visited the coast.

Within those unassuming fronds the sea oak holds a treasure trove of vitamins and minerals. For more than two centuries it has been used to treat thyroid problems, thanks to its unusually high concentrations of iodine – also essential for healthy hair, skin and nails and a natural antiseptic. An effective but gentle exfoliant, the seaweed is also packed with trace elements and antioxidants that renew damaged cells. It is no wonder that herbalists employ sea oak for such a wide range of complaints, including aging and sore skin.

In Noble Isle’s Sea of Green you will find it cleanses and nourishes dry hands, brushing them with an invigorating fragrance reminiscent of the Atlantic coastal breeze.
